About Cosmic Quest

Cosmic Quest is an international astronomy competition organized by the SOAC – STEM October Astronomy Club for 9th grade and high school students worldwide. The competition aims to engage students with astronomy and astrophysics through a two-round challenge.

Eligibility and Teams
  • Open to 9th grade and high school students.
  • Each team consists of 3 students
Competition Structure
  • Open Round: 30 analytical questions across 3 days between September 17–20, 2025 with live leaderboard.
  • Invitational Round: Top 32 teams advance to a live buzz session on September 30, 2025
Timeline
  • Registration opens: August 16, 2025
  • Registration closes: October 5, 2025
  • Round One October 10, 2025 lasts 3 days
  • Round 2 October 25, 2025
  • Winners announced: October 25, 2025
